Football in London is a tradition. It is the most popular sport when it comes to participants and spectators in London. London is home to several England football clubs and 14 professional teams and over 80 amateur leagues under the regulation of the London Football Association.
England's national football stadium, Wembley Stadium, is located in London. It is the home of the national soccer team and has hosted the FA Cup Final since 1923.
Although there are 14 professional teams, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are London's most successful soccer teams in national and European competitions.

Arsenal Football Club, nicknamed 'The Gunners', is one of the main football clubs founded in 1886. It was formed by workers from the Woolwich Arsenal Weapons Factory and the team was transferred to Arsenal Stadium in Highbury in 1913. Chelsea has been a champion in national games, winning the FA Cup six times and has won the League Cup at times. In 1955, the club had its greatest success for the first time in the UEFA Cup Winners Cup twice. After 1970 to 1997, the club only faced losses and had a winning record. But, the club won the Premier League titles in 2005, 2006 and 2010, the latter being the first League Double and FA Cup. Royal blue shirts and shorts with white socks have been Chelsea's colors since the 1960s. The crest continues to change and the current crest features a ceremonial lion holding a staff.
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, nicknamed 'Spurs', 'Lilywhites' was founded in 1882. The team is currently located at White Hart Lane Stadium in Tottenham, north London. The team includes players from different countries, including Brazil, England, Spain, Nigeria, the Netherlands, France and Switzerland.
